Transport
Services
Following the 2015 adoption of the Paris Agreement,
the International Maritime Organization (IMO) set targets
to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from
the shipping industry.
The IMO is aiming for a minimum
50% reduction in total annual GHG emissions by 2050.
Hydrogen is the energy carrier of the future. It not only allows to store large amounts of energy for extended periods of time, but it also enables the safe and economic transport of energy, also over long distances.
Regulations & Standards
Targeted regulations and uniform standards are essential for the successful market introduction of new technologies.
STANDARD MARINE FUEL EMISSIONS
Most ships are powered by liquid petroleum fuel oils
known as “marine fuels,” which are products of the crude
oil refining process.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC) has identified the three GHGs
that contribute most to climate change:
• Carbon dioxide (CO2)
• Methane (CH4)
• Nitrous oxide (N2O)
